Star Wars: The Clone Wars Animated Feature

Posted by Greg on 13th February 2008

Here are some pics of the new Lucasfilm animation project. The new Star Wars film project (if you call a 30 minute release a film) consists as 30 - 30 minute episodes. Only the first episode is slated for theatrical release. This has been in the works for some time and the talk is quite good, I just can’t get too excited about it. Blasphemy, you say!? Lets look at the last three Star Wars releases…they were less than spectacular (read as: horse poop!). So I have reservations about another trek into Star Wars that seems to have been played out, burnt out, and is just uninteresting. Especially when Dark Horse has created great settings in Knights of the Old Republic and Legacy. Or when the New Jedi Order and Rouge Squadron would add to Star Wars fan base that are not novel readers. Why not get an animated feature about them instead of rehashing things you’ve already done?

Ah well, here are the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Animated Feature pics.

Marvel provides Lost Easter Eggs

Posted by Eric on 28th January 2008

Marvel has had a ton of marketing ideas over the last year, some good some bad. Can you really balance out innovative pod-casts and a full-blown selection of online comics with re-writing a flagship character’s history. Well, no matter how angry you feel about Spidey… odds are you will be able to appreciate Marvel’s newest venture with the creators of ABC’s Lost.

Quesada joins Colbert, possibly dissing WGA

Posted by Eric on 22nd January 2008

On Jan 29, Joe Quesada (Marvel’s Editor-in-chief and resident big dog) will be a guest on the Colbert Report airing 10:30 pm Central on Comedy Central.

From Marvel.com - “Colbert can’t seem to get enough of our very own Joe Q. During his previous appearance on the show (July 27, 2006), Quesada shocked Colbert with the news that Captain America would not support the U.S. government in the super hero Civil War. What’s on the agenda for the powerhouse duo this time around? Is it the “Iron Man” movie? The new Captain America (debuting in next week’s CAPTAIN AMERICA #34)? The death of bears in Marvel comics? It’s anyone’s guess at this point, but we’re hopeful Colbert & Quesada will get to the bottom of at least one question: Was Colbert’s bid for the White House some sort of Skrully conspiracy or simply an unfortunate failed attempt at bringing truthiness back to the Presidency?

I guess my big question is, we know that the late night talk shows have tried to get back to business in spite of the writer’s strike… but does this mean by his appearance on the show that Joe Q (speaking on behalf of Marvel Comics) is not in support of the writer’s strike. This may be a slap in the face for a number of excellent mainstream and not-so-mainstream comic book writers who have offered their strong support and voices to the WGA.

Chloe Sullivan makes her debut!

Posted by Eric on 19th December 2007

DC makes a huge jump in Superman #674. From DC - It’s a time of new beginnings for Superman as art sensation Renato Guedes joins the team! Plus, the superhuman mastermind Paragon is loose in Metropolis, Clark and Lois are hunting for a new place to live after the events of “Insect Queen,” and worse, they’ve got relatives coming to visit — namely, a certain blonde cousin of Lois’s from Smallville. It all sets the stage for a major new addition to the cast in next month’s anniversary issue! Can you say “Chloe Sullivan”? We thought you could… It would seem that the character that made Allison Mack a common name on geek lips will be getting her shake in the real DCU. She will be introduced in #674 but will spotlighted in #675. Smallville / Mack fans shouldn’t go too berserk with joy quite yet. The DCU “Chloe” while being inspired by the Smallville character will have it’s differences. To any long term Supes fan, or even any fan of continuity, it would seem odd that we are now only introducing a life-long friend of Clark’s, who dated Jimmy Olsen that happens to be Lois’ cousin… but with the 52 and the Great Disaster, who knows. The DCU Chloe will clearly resonate with Smallville fans, there will be easter eggs for fans and will even be easily recognizable as Chloe… but don’t look for her to be the Smallville character.

Cease and Desist from G4!

Posted by Eric on 13th December 2007

While I would have hoped our first Cease and Desist would have been for something else…

Given my experience working with G4’s PostShow has been wonderful… and all involved and everyone I have interacted with have been friendly, polite and professional.  The least of all… Steve Norman, one of the producers.  G4 has asked Heroestv to take down all footage from the show.  Not sure why… we haven’t been promoting it as “ours” and it has done nothing but get a whole bunch of people who might not have watched G4, let alone heard of G4… my students, non-geek friends, extended family, etc. to a part of G4’s watching audience.

Ah well…

we are still rocking upward and outward!

My 1 min 40 sec of fame :)

Posted by Eric on 11th November 2007

So, tonight was my G4 spot on conspiracy theories from Heroes. While they had asked me to prep three topics, we only got to talk about Adam Monroe… it’s okay because that was the big one for this week’s episode. I got good feedback from the tech guys at G4 and on my myspace… so I think it went ok, at least it went better than out walk through an 1/2 hour previous to live broadcast. Kevin and Blair rocked! Thanks G4 for having me and Heroestv.com on the Post show!
