It seems these pics of the new G.I.Joe movie did show up on-line last week, but were abruptly taken down via a “cease and desist” order. Well they’re back! Some of you might be thinking, “Why is The Pullbox reporting on a G.I.Joe movie?”. I’ll tell you why, because we’re children of the 80’s and have yelled “YO JOE!!!” and the top of our lunges more times than we can count. Some of those time are even more recent that we’d like to admit.
Anyway, go check out the pics!
YO JOE!!!

So here’s a pic of Rachel Nichols as Scarlett from the new G.I. Joe film. I thought the Snake Eyes pic was pretty cool, but I like this one for other reasons.

Fans who have been turned on to the Lone Ranger by Dynamite’s series may be getting to see a whole lot more of their favorite hero! Disney has green lighted a major release based on the classic icon. Written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio (the guys behind Disney’s Pirates movies), it may look like a lot of the pre-teen boys will be swapping up their pirate swords for silver bullets.
From The Hollywood Reporter
Writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio are going from “shiver me timbers!” to “Hi-ho Silver!” The writing duo, best known for their work on the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, are in final negotiations to write a live-action big-screen adaptation of “The Lone Ranger” for Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The project will be made by Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films in association with Entertainment Rights. “Ranger,” owned by Classic Media, began life as a 1930s radio show. Its popularity led to movie serials, TV shows, comic strips and comic books, toys, novels and more. The hero’s origin story begins with a group of Texas Rangers chasing down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. The gang ambushes the Rangers, seemingly killing them all. One survivor is found, however, by an American Indian named Tonto, who nurses him back to health. The Ranger, donning a mask and riding a white stallion named Silver, teams up with Tonto to bring the unscrupulous gang and others of that ilk to justice. Despite the long-standing presence in pop culture, however, “Ranger” has not enjoyed success in modern times. The character’s most recent shot at the big screen, 1981’s “The Legend of the Lone Ranger,” failed so badly that the film’s star, Klinton Spilsbury, never worked in Hollywood again. In 2003, WB Network aired a TV movie that served as a backdoor pilot, but it also bit the dust. Part of the problems are the character’s tropes — wearing a mask, using only silver bullets, a creed that includes not killing your fellow man, the exclamation “Hi-yo Silver, away!” — which can seem musty to today’s audiences. Rossio and Elliott, however, do have experience bringing back genres that seemed passe. The CAA-repped duo wrote “The Mask of Zorro,” the hit adventure movie featuring one of the Ranger’s contemporaries, as well as Disney’s “Pirates” franchise, which breathed new life into the old skull and crossbones. Bruckheimer is producing “Ranger,” and Bruckheimer Films’ Mike Stenson and Chad Oman are executive producing. Jason Reed is overseeing at Disney.

- Grant Morrison and Tony Daniel’s series-changing story arc “Batman: R.I.P.” starts in Batman #676. They promise this will be big and lasting.
- You would think after last year’s World War: Hulk run, Marvel might have slowed down the Green Goliath’s publicity machine, nope… not with a major movie coming out this Summer. Hulk fans have quite a few choices coming in the next few months: Hulk Versus Hercules: When Titans Clash, King-Sized Hulk #1, Giant-Sized Hulk #1.
- For those readers that are more classically minded (sci-fi that is), Bluewater Production continue it’s adaptations of films from the master special effects man himself with Ray Harryhausen Presents Flying Saucers Vs. The Earth
- Speaking of movie tie-ins, Marvel isn’t just pimping the Hulk… Iron Man has quite a few books coming out too: Iron Man: Legacy of Doom, Iron Man: Viva Las Vagas (written by Jon Favreau) and a second monthly Iron Man book, Invincible Iron Man.
- If you have been waiting for more Hong Kong Cavalier action, wait no more! Moonstone is releasing a 2-issue series Buckaroo Bonzai: The Prequel
- The big DC event that is coming up is Final Crisis, along with four mini-series, a Final Crisis Sketch book and it all starts in a 50 cent issue DC Universe: Zero.
- IDW continues their interpretive genius with an adaptation of Mack Bolan’s The Executioner in The Executioner: The Devil’s Tools.
- Boom! Studios is reviving an old game classic from the 80’s and 90’s with Blood Bowl: Killer Contract. Blood Bowl was the original fantasy football league… with dwarves, elves and ogres.
- Marvel 1985, written by Mark Millar and Tommy Lee Edwards will take a different twist on Secret Wars and what happens when the Marvel Universe and our world collide.
- DC/Wildstorm: DreamWar will see the heroes of the DCU and Wildstorm Universe collide as they try to save both universes in this 6-part series (this is not related to Final Crisis)
- Dynamite brings even more Ash goodness with Army of Darkness / Xena: Why Not?
- Marvel is trying to bring back some of their espionage fans with Captain Britain & MI:13, which is directly to the Secret Invasion.
- DC is bringing forth two new Batman projects. Batman: Death Mask, an original Batman tale in manga style, prestige format. And Batman: Gotham After Midnight, a more horroresque Scarecrow story written by the man himself, Steve Niles .
- The soon-to-be-classic dark future horror / sci-fi tale Pogrom is out from Devil’s Due
- The Lost Boys: Reign of Frogs is a 4-issue series from Wildstorm that will be connecting the original Lost Boys movie with the sequel The Lost Boys: The Tribe.
- Mummy fans will get an eyeful with IDW’s The Mummy: The Rise and Fall of Xango’s Ax, this could be the beginning of a whole run of Mummy-related comics from IDW.
- NewUniversal fans will be excited (I am!) that Warren Ellis and Steve Kurth return to write a 6-part limited series NewUniversal: Shockfront
- A less-publicized project coming up from DC is The War that Time Forgot, placing many of DC’s “soldier” characters from many different times together on a dinosaur riddled “land-o-the-Lost”-ish island by an unseen force.
- Legion Studios will blowing away all the horror fans out there with Wizard exclusive book Fallen Daughters, watch for that at Wizard World Chicago… it should rock!

It stands to reason that the first shot we see of the new G.I. Joe is of everyone’s favorite Joe..Snake Eyes!

These images were sent to USA Today by artist Larry Hama. If you have never seen Hama’s work for the Devil’s Due G.I.Joe book, it’s very much worth it.
Oh, and that is martial arts master Ray Park (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace) underneath the ninja garb.

Oni Press is flexing it’s creative muscles once again. Now, with a movie version of the independent comic scene’s favorite non-super-hero, Scott Pilgrim.
From the Hollywood Reporter - Michael Cera is in final negotiations to star in “Scott Pilgrim’s Little Life” for Universal. Edgar Wright is directing the adventure romance,
which is being produced by Marc Platt and Eric Gitter. Wright and Nina Park also are producing. “Life” tells the story of a young slacker (Cera) who meets the woman of his dreams but finds that he can only win her heart by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends. The project is based on the Oni Press graphic novel “Scott Pilgrim Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life,” written by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Michael Bacall and Wright wrote the screenplay. Cera and Wright had mutual admiration for each other’s work, which manifested itself when Wright stepped in to act alongside Cera and Jonah Hill in a viral promo for “Superbad”; Wright acted as a snarky interviewer to an exasperated Cera and Hill. The studio is eyeing a fall start. Cera is filming the Judd Apatow-produced “Year One” with Jack Black. He next shoots “Youth in Revolt” for Dimension, with Miguel Arteta directing. He is repped by Paradigm, Thruline Entertainment and attorney Jamie Feldman

Variety reports today that Dark Horse, publishers of fine comics and graphic novels, and Universal, creators of good movies and theme parks, have climbed into bed for a 7 picture deal.
I’m eagerly awaiting the release of Hellboy II: The Golden Army this summer. I hope this is another notch in what is turning into a large belt.

Screen shots from this summers Incredible Hulk movie have been popping up here and there for a few months now. These are the first that I’ve seen of the two major players in the film…The Hulk and The Abomination.
This is the Abomination, who looks like something out of Resident Evil. I was looking for the big fishy looking guy.

Now the Hulk. He kinda looks like something out of a video game cut scene. I hope they still have more work to do.
